ROYAL BRUNEI AIR FORCE SEEKS NEW BLOOD TO FUEL FUTURE OPERATIONS

THE Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF) is encouraging more of Brunei’s youth to enlist to accomodate the growth of the air force.

Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force Colonel (U) Shahril Anwar Hj Ma’Awiah said that current RBAirF personnel are ‘not sufficient’ to replace outgoing or retiring officers.

The commander said this during the pilot wings presentation ceremony held yesterday at the Royal Brunei Air Force Headquarters in Rimba.

“We encourage more people to come in. (We are) trying to get the youth to join the air force,” he said.

“We are looking for more people, whether it is for the air crew, pilots, engineers and air defence. We still don’t have enough people at the moment,” said the commander.

Colonel (U) Shahril Anwar also said that female recruits are welcomed at the RBAirF.

“There are no limitations for the pilots, whether female or male. At the moment, we have one (female) captain for the black hawks,” he said.

“We have a lot of female applicants coming in as well. As long as they can fulfill the requirements, then they are good,” he added.

Meanwhile, a new simulator for the Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk helicopters is expected to arrive at the CAE Brunei Multi-Purpose Training Centre (MPTC) around the third quarter of the year.

Currently, RBAirF is in contract with MPTC to carry out training on the Pilatus PC-7 simulator, along with the S92 simulator.

The commander said that the pilot trainees will spend hours on the simulators before they are allowed to operate the actual aircrafts.

He explained that the simulators help student pilots familiarise themselves with how the aircrafts operate.

The simulators also help the pilots train and prepare for various emergencies on the aircraft.

“Once we have the facilities here, all the black hawk pilots will be going to the simulator training here,” said Colonel (U) Shahril Anwar.-Abdul Aziz Ismail

FIVE Royal Brunei Air Force officers yesterday received their pilot wings following the completion of their training.

During the ceremony at the Royal Brunei Air Force Headquarters in Rimba, Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force Colonel (U) Shahril Anwar Hj Ma’Awiah presented the pilots their ‘wings’.

Commander of the Flying Training School, Number Seven Wing, Major (U) Pg Mohd Zulhusmi Pg Md Roslan told The Brunei Times that he was proud of the five student pilots as it is a great honour to receive ‘wings’.

“Pilot wings are something that you will carry throughout your career… It is something that is really prestigious because not many people receive wings,” he said.

He said that the five student pilots have undergone various training – within the span of three years – to receive their wings.

The training included the Officer Cadet School (OCS), Basic Fixed Wing course and Basic Rotary Wing course.

The five officers will now proceed to further their operational flying career in the United States, where they will undergo simulator training for the Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk helicopters.

One of the recipients, Lt (U) Muhammad Izdihar Hj Imran, said he was excited to become a military pilot as it was the fulfillment of his childhood dream.

He left the sultanate for Florida – with fellow pilot wing recipient Lt (U) Mohammed Azhar Hj Mohd Mahathir – last night to undergo a simulator training exercise for a month to familiarise himself with the Black Hawk helicopters.

“We will be there for a month. We will then return back here (Brunei) for several months to learn from the basics to the higher standards,” he said.

Lt (U) Mohammed Azhar said receiving the pilot wings was an accomplishment which he was very proud of.

“I have always wanted to become a pilot even before I joined the armed forces” he said.

He then used the opportunity to urge more Bruneians to sign up to become military pilots as it is one of the platforms to serve the country.

Echoing similar sentiments was Lt (U) Mohammad Syamim Roslan.

Lt (U) Mohammad Syamim said that he had worked hard throughout the training sessions to earn his ‘wings’.

“It requires hard work and dedication to achieve this (pilot wings). It is a great opportunity to be part of the armed forces. It is my focus to serve the country and its people,” he said.

Hadapi cabaran kursus juruterbang

• • RIMBA, Jumaat, 8 Januari. - Leftenan (U) Awangku Adri Firdaus bin Pengiran Haji Rakawi, 26 tahun, mengikuti kursus 'Basic Flying Fixed Wing Training' dan 'Rotary Flying Training' di BAE Systems, Tamworth, Australia selama setahun enam bulan merasa amat gembira dan bersyukur kerana berjaya menamatkan kursus yang diikuti.

    Beliau merupakan salah seorang penerima Lencana Juruterbang Tentera Udara Diraja Brunei (TUDB).

    Dalam temu bual bersama Pelita Brunei selepas menerima lencana juruterbangnya, beliau merasa terharu dan berjanji kepada diri sendiri untuk membuat yang terbaik apabila masuk dalam dunia operasi serta mengikuti jejak juruterbang yang terdahulu untuk membawa nama baik TUDB.

    

    LEFTENAN (U) Awangku Adri Firdaus bin Pengiran Haji Rakawi ... Berjanji kepada dirinya sendiri untuk membuat yang terbaik apabila masuk dalam dunia operasi dan mengikuti jejak jurutebang yang lama untuk membawa nama baik TUDB.

    "Sepanjang tempoh berkursus, bermacam cabaran yang saya lalui, tetapi alhamdulillah saya mampu menempuhinya dengan sabar dan akhirnya lulus. Ahli keluarga terutama sekali ibu bapa memainkan peranan penting untuk terus memberi sokongan dan dorongan kepada saya. Begitu juga dengan pegawai-pegawai juruterbang'senior' tidak pernah jemu memberikan nasihat serta kawan-kawan rapat yang sentiasa bersama menempuhi suka dan duka sepanjang saya mengikuti kursus," jelasnya.

    Beliau berkata, pada masa akan datang beliau merancang untuk terbang dengan aktif agar dapat mengumpul jumlah jam penerbangan dan suatu hari nanti akan dapat menjadi seorang jurulatih terbang yang berkebolehan.

    Seorang lagi juruterbang yang layak menerima lencana ialah Leftenan (U) Muhammad Ali Sadiqqin bin Haji A. Murni berusia 31 tahun juga mengikuti kursus di BAE Systems, Tamworth, Australia selama setahun empat bulan.

    

    LEFTENAN (U) Muhammad Ali Sadiqqin bin Haji A.Murni ... "Saya merasa bersyukur dan sangat gembira setelah berjaya menamatkan kursus."

    "Alhamdulillah, saya bersyukur dan sangat gembira setelah berjaya menamatkan kursus. Terima kasih juga kepada keluarga, rakan seperjuangan dan para jurulatih yang sentiasa memberikan semangat dan sokongan tanpa batasan," ujarnya.

    Katanya, dengan adanya lencana itu, ia diharap mampu meningkatkan semangat beliau menjadi seorang pegawai tentera yang lebih baik dan terus berkhidmat di dalam TUDB.

    Menyentuh mengenai perancangan di masa akan datang, Muhammad Ali Sadiqqin begitu berminat sekali untuk menerbangkan pesawat Blackhawk S70i dengan harapan untuk berbakti kepada raja, agama dan negara.

Lima terima lencana juruterbang

    PEMERINTAH Tentera Udara Diraja Brunei, Kolonel Udara Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma'awiah semasa memasangkan lencana juruterbang kepada 975 Leftenan Udara Mohammaed Azhar bin Haji Mohd. Mahathir bertempat di Markas Tentera Udara Diraja Brunei, Rimba.
    RIMBA, Jumaat, 8 Januari. - Seramai lima orang pegawai yang menamatkan latihan penerbangan menerima lencana juruterbang masing-masing.

    Majlis diadakan di Markas Tentera Udara Diraja Brunei (TUDB), Pangkalan TUDB, pagi tadi.

    Penyampaian lencana juruterbang disematkan oleh Pemerintah TUDB, Kolonel Udara Shahril Anwar bin Haji Ma'awiah dan disaksikan oleh ahli-ahli keluarga penerima bersama Pegawai Memerintah No. 73 Skuadron, Sekolah Latihan Penerbangan, No. 7 Wing, Mejar (U) Pengiran Mohd. Zulhusmi bin Pengiran Mohd. Roslan.

    

    PARA penerima lencana juruterbang bergambar ramai bersama Pemerintah Tentera Udara Diraja Brunei.

    Penerima lencana juruterbang terdiri daripada 964 Leftenan (U) Muhammad Izdihar bin Haji Imran dan 975 Leftenan (U) Mohammaed Azhar bin Haji Mohd. Mahathir yang mana kedua-keduanya telah selesai menjalani latihan penerbangan sepenuhnya di No. 73 Skuadron, Sekolah Latihan Penerbangan bertempat di Negara Brunei Darussalam.

    Juga menerima lencana juruterbang ialah 993 Leftenan (U) Muhammad Ali Sadiqqin bin Haji A. Murni; 999 Leftenan (U) Awangku Adri Firdaus bin Pengiran Haji Rakawi dan 1009 Leftenan (U) Mohammad Syamim bin Roslan yang telah selesai menjalani latihan penerbangan sepenuhnya di BAE Systems, Tamworth, Australia.

    

    LEFTENAN Udara Mohammaed Azhar bin Haji Mohd. Mahathir bersama keluarga sejurus menerima lencana juruterbang setelah berjaya menjalani latihan penerbangan di 73 Skuadron, Sekolah Latihan Penerbangan di Negara Brunei Darussalam.

    

    LEFTENAN Udara Muhammad Ali Sadiqqin bin Haji A. Murni bersama keluarga sejurus menerima lencana juruterbang setelah menamatkan latihan penerbangan di BAE Systems, Tamworth, Australia.

    

    LEFTENAN Udara Mohammad Syamim bin Roslan bersama keluarga sejurus menerima lencana juruterbang setelah berjaya menjalani latihan penerbangan di BAE Systems, Tamworth, Australia.

    
    

    Terdahulu majlis dimulakan dengan bacaan Surah Al-Fatihah beramai-ramai serta diikuti dengan upacara penyampaian lencana juruterbang dan seterusnya diakhiri dengan bacaan doa selamat serta bergambar ramai.
