YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) yesterday launched its second academic publication to commemorate more than 30 years Brunei’s National Day.
The launching of the 302-paged book titled ‘Brunei Merdeka - Kumpulan Artikel Sempena Memperingati Sambutan 30 Tahun Hari Kebangsaan Negara Brunei Darussalam’ was conducted by the Minister of Education, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman who is also the Chairperson of the Yayasan Board of Directors.

YAYASAN Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (YSHHB) yesterday launched its second academic publication to commemorate more than 30 years Brunei’s National Day.
The launching of the 302-paged book titled ‘Brunei Merdeka - Kumpulan Artikel Sempena Memperingati Sambutan 30 Tahun Hari Kebangsaan Negara Brunei Darussalam’ was conducted by the Minister of Education, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman who is also the Chairperson of the Yayasan Board of Directors.
The launching ceremony, held at the multi-purpose hall, was also attended by the President of the Brunei Historical Society (PESEBAR), Yang Berhormat Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Dr Ustaz Hj Awang Yahya Hj Ibrahim.
The event started with a welcoming speech by the president, followed by the launching of the book.
YB Pehin Dato Hj Suyoi also distributed the books to several heads of libraries and higher education institutions.
This was followed with the publication’s review which was delivered by the Executive Director of the Centre of Strategic and Policy Studies, Hj Mohd Rozan Dato Paduka Hj Mohd Yunos.
The publication is a compilation of 13 articles that have been written
by local and foreign scholars from PESEBAR as well as the Universiti
Brunei Darussalam.
Most of the topics debated in the publications are concentrated on the achievements and challenges faced by the country during 30 years of its independence including in the aspect of politics, economy, social, constitution and legislation.
Among the approaches used in the articles focus on the historical, cultural and contemporary style of writing.
According to the media statement from the foundation, the book is one of Yayasan’s charity activities aimed to enhance the nation’s educational level in line with its policy in support of research and development activities.
The book will hopefully be a source of relevant references to scholars and the public in reviewing and understanding the development of the country that has successfully demonstrated achievements in various fields in addition to being able to overcome any challenges and obstacles within three decades.
Those interested in purchasing the publication can do so at the Brunei Historical Centre in the capital and the Academy of Brunei Studies (APB) of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD).
The books are sold at a price of $15 for the hard cover and soft cover for $10.
The first publication of academic research by Yayasan was officiated in 2010 where it focuses on the discussion of local history and cultural patterns of community.
